WOMEN AND CHILDREN ARE A PARTICULARLY VULNERABLE SEGMENT OF SOCIETY
Discrimination and economic pressures prevent or inhibit their access to health care and health education. At Shaktishifa we work diligently to address the special issues faced by women and empower them to care for themselves and their children. Women in India shoulder the primary responsibility for the education, nutrition, and health of their families. Many women must also cope with limited educational opportunities, grueling work conditions, and violence on the basis of their gender.
Women's Preventative Healthcare Initiative
Mrs. Zaidi died of cervical cancer on 17th January 2015 after a brave and courageous battle with this preventable disease. We honor her and her family and thank them for their gracious help in establishing the program for women's reproductive healthcare, to see that all women get the care they need to prevent cancer and disease.
Cyndi Wiese, who was a nurse practitioner in Minnesota, USA, died an untimely death in her early 40's from Ovarian Cancer, leaving behind her husband, Dr. Steve Wiese and three beautiful sons.
Cyndi was passionate about Women's Health Care. In the last six weeks of her life she worked diligently to raise $27,000 and helped to launch the Women's Health Initiative which lives on every day at Shaktishifa. Because of her generosity and vision, women and their children receive routine and preventative healthcare.
"YOU CAN TELL THE CONDITION OF A NATION BY LOOKING AT ITS STATUS OF WOMEN."
